iTunes 12 Beta: Fixes iOS 8 GM Install Issue For Some

May 30, 2022 by fairerplatform

On Tuesday, Apple seeded iOS 8 GM (gold master) to its legit developers. The GM was accompanied by iTunes 11.4, which was addressed (according to the rumor mill) an issue with installing iOS 8 Gold Master.

Not long afterward, however, OS X Yosemite devs complained that iTunes 12 Beta was causing iPhones to hang in DFU Mode during iOS 8 GM install process. Well, the mothership has seeded iTunes 12 Beta Build 12.0.0.117 to OS X Yosemite devs in order to quash said same iOS 8 GM install issues.

For what it’s worth, some devs are reporting that the new iTunes 12 Beta build does address their problems. Others, however, have said they needed to boot into Mavericks (hint, hint) and then restore from there.

Your mileage could vary significantly, so be sure to check both Apple’s official iOS 8 and Yosemite developer forums, as well as the better informed third-party forums. Read twice, patch once…

What’s your take?
